I'm pretty sure I just broke my big toe, not near the foot but out at the tip. Anyone break a toe before? did you see a doc? how long was recovery?

Note to others do not race your students in gym class if you are competitive, it will not end well when the finish line is the stage front.

Also a big sorry to my school janitor for smashing through that wood door on the front of the stage.

Have a good weekend all.

I broke my "ring toe" on my honey moon playing beach volleyball. Gave me a bit of a limp for the better part of a week, but healed pretty fast. Big toe gets much more pressure and use I would think. Might wanna visit the ol' doc and see how bad it is.

I've broken toes several times... Tape it to the toe next to it, try to stay off it as much as possible, and wear loose shoes for a couple of weeks.

Dead on. I play judo and have experienced the joy of broken toes. Tape it and smile. That's about all you can do. Good news is that it won't cost you an arm and a leg as you don't need a doctor.

I'm guessing that I have broken a toe several times judging by the fact the top of my foot turned black and blue half way to my ankle. Recovery time has generally only been a couple of weeks to a month. Stiff shanked boots have help me to walk afterwords but the toe box sure gets crowded.

thanks for the replies. I decided to head to the Doc and have it checked. Might as well put the free health care to use eh? (oh wait I pay 30% income tax and 13% tax on every purchase I make)

The doc was going to drill a hole through my nail to relieve the pressure but when he checked the xray and saw that it was indeed broken he just put a splint on it and taped it up. I have to keep the splint on for two weeks then I go back for another xray. If I had to pay for health care I would have just taped it up myself and let it heal.

Should have saved your gas and time and just taped them up! :-)

I get knee and joint injuries all the time, including two broken ribs and a separated shoulder. The only time going to a doctor was worthwhile was for an ACL reconstruction. The rest of the time it's just take it easy and let it heal.

Having lost a few fingernails and toenails over the years between accidents, football and work; my preference is a normal household needle heated red hot with a butane torch.Goes through the nail like butter.

Poke a few holes in the nail and milk it like a cow. Of course, I recommend the "surgery" be done out of the house..nasty smell when melting a nail.

I squished my thumbnail between some iron once and a few days later pushed a pin through the nail and released the pressure and it was purely euphoric.

Huntem nice pic, I may resort to the same myself.

I have been laid up the last day and a half and i can't take it. Headed out for a snow machine ride in a few. Not the same as putting the snowshoes on but at least I'll get off the couch.
