Played around with the super macro/underwater features of my Olympus 550WP last spring during a mayfly hatch and finally got around to loading up some pics.

Subject emerger was drifting just sub-surface upside down and the miniscus gave a perfect reflection. No wonder trout seem finicky at times, they get to inspect both the top and bottom of the fly at the same time!

I just might! Donated quite a few last spring and need to re-stock anyway. I'm contemplating something soft-hackle/flymph style on light wire to drift just under the surface since that's what they wanted last year instead of the dun. Every year is a different scenario even on the same water!

....though from looking at the pics I probably need to emphasize the dark back/light belly contrast more than I have in the past since the reflection really shows that contrast.

Neat! Yes there is quite a mirror effect from the surface.

Thanks 1Minute. Is spring trying to show up there like it is here? Been up around 60 here last week.

Were doing upper 40's. Reports have some squirrels out near Crane. I've not checked on the fields further north.

Good shots!

And notice the glow effect from the backlighting.
I think that's one of the aspects of a tie where natural materials work so well. A hunk of molded plastic just ain't the same.

Thanks guys!

Agreed on the natural material and light interface. Wish I had taken the time to shoot one of the duns from under the surface also to see the light effect there.
