Be careful with those things. I had a neighbor that had the bolt blow back out of one and put his right eye out. Dr. said that if his thumb had not deflected it a little, he would have most likely been dead. I do not know how they are made but something broke in this one and the bolt came straight back. miles
Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.

back nt he day, thr used to be alot of shoots for hams and turkeys and the like around here, and the gunsmithing shop did quite a business back boring or tightening choles. if the gun is in a good shape and the receiver has not stretched from shooting heavy loads ina 2.75" gun (that can happen, you measure it w/calipers...sure wish I could recall the correctdistance from chamber to front-end of receiver) then they are actually VERY good guns for this purpose!
One thing the 'match' shooters often had us do was to, as a last step, torque the barrel up and left or down and right. This was because, at least around here, anyone could shoot your gun, they only had to produce the shell. They would the practice enuff to know how to hold!

I have one. I refuse to shoot it and I won't sell it due to the fact that it is potentially dangerous.

I primarily shoot lever guns but I have a Marlin Model 55 that I use often for trap. It sure helps build the muscle memory when I transition to bolt rifles, increasing my cycling speed and form.

braggjr, well where to start. I will only use the action from the gun. Will have it put in a benchrest stock with a custom built 1 3/8 in barrel. It will have a drop in choke. I have several different size chokes for different places and different weather. We shoot for money only. Its alot of fun.
colorado1135, Thanks for the reply but I'm looking for 12 ga only.
engine22, I'm interested. Please email the pictures and info when you have the time.
jackelope, Higgins had a recall a while back on the bolts in there shotguns. I think they were giving 100 bucks for you to send them back but they didnt have a replacement.
