The one and only. My son came up with type 1 diabetes last week. So, we're transitioning into that. We're tougher than diabetes. So other wise we're great.

I'm not sure which types are which, but I do know that if you take care of it properly, things will work well.
Medical tecnology has come leaps and bounds, even in the last 5-10 years.
I don't have it, but many in my family do, including my dad.
Glad to see you back posting. Don't be a stranger.

Hey Forester, first off I'd like to show my confidence in your son along with your support/leadership. You 2 have taken on some amazing challenges and always come out on top, this will be no different. And secondly, welcome back man!

Not good Dave. Looks like you'll be spending more time with your tool box than the family.

Thank you Dave. We've covered a lot of territory. Here's arriving on Lake Winnipeg after 550 miles: Two legs left to go and we've ripped this continent in half. In June we go the rest of the way down the Mississippi. 700 miles down and 1500 to go. Then, Winnipeg to Hudson Bay. Haven't decided when or what route, but that'll be a challenge. Diabetes might be the least of the challenges. 4

Dave, why did you get put in the hole? Was it because of the 60" extension debakel? I was out of town when it happened, glad to see you posting over there again.

Hell of a trip. I don't diabetes is going to slow you or him down. Just a bump in the road, that's all. Diabetes might be the least of the challenges. It would certainly seem that way. 4, how was your deer season?

Agreed, deer year of a lifetime, father and son. Very cool.
Well guys, I should have known better than to assume the plow truck was broken.
I split the knuckle on the suspect end of the front axle, pulled the axle, inspected.... and then it came to me, after finding nothing wrong but noticing a little bit of water in that hub.
The lockout was iced up, that's all.
No bad joint, no broken axle, no shattered spiders... Nuthin, there wasn't a damn thing wrong with that truck other than a trace of water inside that hub.
So, I learned how to work on closed knuckle dana 44 axles and I repacked the bearings on that side.
I was so foolish for doubting the ford.
I even noticed that the axle end joint was a Spicer brand universal joint..... which makes me wonder if it could be the original joint???

What I'm trying to say is.... I TORE THE DAMN TRUCK APART FOR NUTHIN!!!!! laughing!! I have to pick up a few bottles of gear oil. One to fill those axle knuckels and I might as well fill all the gear boxes while I'm at it. transfer case, axles... hmm, might want lighter oil for the transmission? I better not be too nice to the old truck though, don't want to spoil her.

I dont know, if old trucks are like old men, you don't want them in the hospital/repair shop for anything other than to fix what is broken. When you try to fix what isn't broken, it kills them. I say treat it like a sore "unit" and don't "mess" with it.
(Doing my best to keep it clean and avoid the "bleep")

I went out today to start my old tired 98 Expedition and it turned over about 1 time and locked! I tried and tried to start it but it wouldnt budge (I havent started it in about 10 days and I think oil is slowly dripping in the cylinders) anyway I think I got a hydrolic lock..... I got underneath it and reversed the engine about 2 times and got back in and tried to start it again, this time it started but smoked like a steam engine. I think at almost 200K its getting a little tired. Maybe I should start it more often so this dont happen again.
