Goodbye Peoples' Republik, hello Lone Star State! I'm San Antonio bound... will hit the road around Mar. 6 with a bunch of "gear," clothes and two weiner dogs. Wife and the movers will follow within the week. I'm looking forward to meeting 'Fire members in the area and making lots of hunting/shooting/fishing connections. (We'll be settling on the NE side of town initially until we figure out where we want to buy). I shall refuse, however, to root for the Cowboys, the Spurs or UT football. Well, OK, maybe A&M just to be contrarian.

San Antonio was great fun for the short while I was there. I found several ranges, and gun shops (one dandy), and you're within striking distance of Corpus Christi - and some of the finest offshore, and bay fishing in the world.
Enjoy - there are several posters who are versed on that area, and I'm sure with some persistance on your part - they'll chime in.

Thanks, SA and the Hill Country are a great area. I heard from some of the locals earlier when it was just a possibility. Now it's a hurry-up-madazz-scramble reality.
Looking forward to it!

Find some pigs..PM me! No problem. Four-legged or two-legged? *slappin' knee* Actually, my wife has two uncles with ranches who reportedly have "pig problems." I will certainly investigate those (and other opportunies) in a speedy fashion. Of course, I'm also hoping they have whitetail problems... predator problems... etc.

Welcome Kentucky Windage, I live in NE San Antonio about 3-4 miles from Randolph AFB. Be more than happy to help you out any way I can. Tom

Thanks, Tom. I'm headed to the same area. Working on finding a house to lease until we decide where to buy, so I'll likely be in that Shertz/Cibolo area for a year until we find a suitable trophy room -- er, I mean house.

San Antonio is by far the best big city in Texas. You could have done way worse...

Good luck and have a safe move Thanks. Speaking of safety... although I have two CCWs, I can't carry legally in the People's Republik. That changes from the moment I hit the AZ border all the way to Texas... I'm liking this already.

congrats - I did the same move a few months ago, although I wound up in Houston. Just wish I could sell the house in CA I suggest you celebrate, as soon as you have your Texas DL - walk into a gun shop and walk out with an AR :)No waiting period

I kind wish it was sooner than latter. To many things holding me here right now.

We're fortunate in that we're in a very desirable location, and there's very little avail. on the local market, so we may be OK on that score. If not, we'll just lease it out at a profit until the right offer comes along. Re. buying the AR, that's at the top of my list. How long do you have to wait to get a Texas DL?

The housing market in Shertz/Cibolo area is great, lots of selling/buying opportunities. Quick jump onto the interstate I35 or I10 from there also. Tom

No wait. You have 30 days to get one.
Edited to explain. You are supposed to get a Texas license within 30 days of making " permanent" residence in the State.
