I have a Burris Scope and am trying to put it on a T/C Pro Hunter .280 barrel. Medium rings are too high and lows put it so close a paper will not go between barrel and scope but you can see light between them. Is this enough or will it damage the scope? Thanks for any imput.

If you can't slide a piece of paper betwixt I'd not go that route. Different brand rings/base may fix it for ya.

You might try some shim material under the base but make sure you use the same thickness on both ends of the base.

Or, use Burris Posi Align rings with the nylon inserts and use Plus thickness inserts on the bottom of both rings, again as per above, the same thickness of nylon inserts front and rear unless a slight difference in thicknesses is called for to get better alignment of the scope to the bore for boresighting anyway.

+1 I would not shim the base when you can use the mentioned rings. They work great. You only need a little clearance.

Order a set of Burris Signature Zee rings (I assume same as "Posi-Align") and a set of the varous inserts. They work great and with the inserts, there is never any damage to your expensive scope. Signature Zee rings are all I use now.

If you are that close --1 shim will clear it for you. As said before--shim front and rear the same. Good shooting!

I had a similar setup with an STW at one time. You could see daylight but a piece of paper wouldn't slide through, I was a bit concerned about this also. But after a hundred and a half rounds or so the scope bell showed no evidence that it ever came in contact with the barrel.
