Hey BM...How big do pheasants get? I have HUGE one that comes into my yard and eats the corn and bird seed. I mean he's signifagantly bigger than the other roosters in the bunch.

I got a feeling this is like the ugly duckling story and Tom actually has a turkey in his yard... whistle

Very nice looking birds.

I forgot to mention I wished it was deer season right now. Yesterday when we were out to the cabin to get the plow truck there were deer all over the place. Seemed like everwhere we looked there were deer walking around, stopping to look at us etc.

The type of thing none of us ever see during season.

From saturday night's adventures.. Here's the tractor loader hanging from the meat pole

I do have turkeys. This thing is almost as big as some of the hen turkey's.

My BIL was over this weekend and couldn't believe how big it was.

Nice birds! I love wood ducks, and pheasants are just as unbelievably colored.

Dave, those deer shift around a lot. On my land, the deer are basically completely absent from a week after the leaves are down until March. I don't know why exactly but there seems to be some subtle habitat issues that we are not satisfying for winter cover. You seem to have the opposite problem - hey! Maybe those are OUR deer! Send'em home will ya!

Yeah they come in for the cedars for the most part.

they cant hardly dig for any other food. The way the wind has been howling and beating the trees the cedars have been dropping little bow tips, makes for some easy deer chow.

Tom, single six? do tell.... grin

I'll try to get a pic up if I can find that camera, Ma might have it in Wausau.

I went on the prowl with my BIL this weekend while Betsy and the kids were gone. I told Andy (BIL) then only thing I'd buy as far as guns was a nice used single six. Well I'll be damned if they didn't have one, hardly fired, stainless 5-1/2" bbl. The one next to it was EXACTLY what I was looking for, stainless 4 5/8" bbl, but it was new. I wasn't really willing to spend the $ for a new one. So I thought it over for about 7 seconds. grin It's not very often that you find EXACTLY what you're looking for.

I don't think it's left my hand for more than a few minutes since I bought it. I love this gun, flat out my favorite one I have.

Edited to add....Andy bought the hardly used one. We were the two easiest sales that guys ever had I can tell you that. We were in there for less than a minute when we found the guns. grin

I guess I didn't realize it was the same frame as the Vaquero, but I like it. It has some meat to it....I now want another.

I have always lusted after a Smith 686, but I don't feel like shilling out 8 clams to get one.

now that you mention it Dave, it is kinda needed just for balance. plus its cheaper to practice with the .22 in order to get better with the .45 so you will save money!

Have a great day at work Missy! I have a phone interview today at 10 am, and just saw 2 new jobs with PF open in Kansas I'm gonna put in for, if I have to move south it might as well be west as well!
