John Kruk was a riot. He ended his career by getting s base hit, taking himself out of the game, and leaving the field to never return. He was a pretty good ball player and .300 hitter.
That plate appearance against The Big Unit was during an All-Star game.

Jack Morris pitching a 10-inning shutout against the Braves in Game 7 of the '91 World Series. The Twins walked off in the 10th on s Gene Larkin single with Dan Gladden scoring from 3rd.
Twins manager Tom Kelly had tried to take Morris out of the game earlier, but Morris refused to give up the ball. Kelly later said, "It would have taken a shotgun to get him out."

Not to mention Chuck Knoblauch and Greg Gagne dekeing Lonnie Smith into not scoring on a hit and run double. A truly great game.
I once had a religious epiphany because of baseball.
Back in the '90s the Dodgers had a shortstop named Jose Offerman. Great hitter, but he simply couldn't field at the major league level. One year he nevertheless got voted onto the All Star team, much to my disgust.
He got into the All Star game in the late innings and promptly made an error. That's when I knew there was a God.
Offerman was so upset by his poor fielding that after the game he walked in front of a moving bus. Fortunately, it rolled between his legs.
Late innings, the Dodgers are ahead by more runs that Bonds represents.
Bonds, a LH hitter, hits a 100 mph fastball foul over the right field bleachers into SF Bay. It's hard enough to hit a 100 mph fastball, but it's amazing to hit it right on the screws but have it go foul because you were ahead of it.
