Actually, I got my hands on one of these cheap Maverick Rifles in 243 with the stock spacer for LOP change as a youth rifle for my son... But it's been puking out fliers every range trip. Tried the bread tag trick JB recommends, pulled the mag box, swapped scopes and nothing. Finally when I pulled the scope I had a look at the front base. The sucker was on backwards from the factory. Can you see what was happening? Hint: recoil lug is a hair higher than action or barrel nut. I like simple answers and this is one. Now if I can talk Mossberg into replacing a couple boxes of ammo, I'd be happier. Good luck with that, I'm sure.

Yup. Thank you. And now that the assembly/QC issue is worked out it is a functional shooter as well. 5lb gritty trigger and all.
I paid 279 up here in Canada. Can't expect much for that considering the next closest thing is a savage youth (package with scope) priced at $414...

I'm actually surprised that Mossberg has had as much success as they have with the ATRs and 4x4s, given that they are redesigned 3rd generation Raptors.

Just came from a gun shop where the 'smith was working on a Mossberg. New, out of the box, safety is none functional - firing pin will drop regardless of the safety lever position when the trigger is pulled.
I think Mossberg's QC has a ways to go . . . . .
I never thought I'd grow up to be a grumpy old man, but I did, and I'm killin' it.

I hate to worry you but have you considered the other implications? Is it possible the front sight base was right and the remaining entirety of the rifle was assembled backwards?

I am learning to love a pair of their 500 shotguns: they are a solid part of my Ranch arsenal. But, a Mossberg Rifle, why? Do you already own one of all the good choices?
This is intended to be humor, actually I used to think Savage rifles were some how less worthy than other choices. Now that we have a couple of them around, I have to admit they rock.
Good luck straightening your rifle out.
