I am looking for a high-quality, higher-power scope for my pre-64 Model 70 300 H&H. I currently have a Zeiss Conquest 3-9X40 MC mounted on it, but want to go to something with a max. magnification in the 14-20X range. A nice Leupold 6.5-20X would be perfect, but not set on that.

I have several things that I would offer for partial trade, or perhaps someone might be interested in several items for full or partial trade. The following are available:

Zeiss Conquest 3-9X40 MC -- duplex; matte; perfect condition -- not a mark on it. Trade/cash value: $350.00
Leupold Vari-X IIc 3-9X40 -- duplex; gloss; almost perfect -- no ring marks, but just a few tiny marks. Trade/cash value: $225.00
Weaver 3-9X38 -- Japan made; gloss; duplex; almost perfect -- even better shape than the Leupold. Trade/cash value: $100.00.
NEF Sportster -- .17HMR; blued/synthetic stock; Weaver base and rings; Weaver V9 AO USA-made scope; hammer spur; very good overall condition; shoots very well. Trade/cash value: $275.00.

I may have another rifle available -- still can't decide:
TC Classic .22LR -- excellent condition -- fired VERY little; metal like new; wood has a couple of minor scratches; 5-shot clip; comes with TC bases, rings and Bushnell Sportview 3-9X32 scope. Trade/cash value: $350.00.

I'll get some photos.

All prices are shipped. Let me know what you have to trade and what it's going to cost me.

Just my $.02

Curious why you would want to take an excellent big game hunting rifle, presently equipped with a decent scope and put a target/varmint scope on it ?

It will never be a 1/2 MOA rifle and that big a scope will make it quite "unhandy".

This is like what you have:

This is about what you'll end up with ........ hope you never jump an Elk in the black timber !

Take a look at this. IMHO the best all around hunting scope available today.

You can see here, how nice and low it mounts:

If you don't have to have a variable, I might part with my Weaver 24x. Does that interest you?

OK -- PMs sent to lubbockdave, taz4570 and DakotaDeer.

shooter4570 -- actually, my 300 H&H does shoot better than 1 MOA with my pet loads and a scope powerful enough for me to see exactly where I am holding. I spend a LOT more time at the range than in the black timber, so shooting my 300 as well as I can every day is important to me. A Leupold Vari-X III 6.5-20X is only 1.25" longer than the Zeiss Conquest 3-9X and doesn't weigh any more, so it's not going to be more cumbersome. Besides, I can always switch back to a 3.5-10X should I head to heavy cover again. Right now my interests are long shots in open country. I appreciate your advice and agree with it for most cases, but not mine at the moment. Oh yeah, I love the NF's -- I have one on my 6mmBR.

I have a 5-22x44 Nikon Monarch that I'd consider. We could work something out with that conquest. Just let me know.
