Was thinking of buying one of these as it fits my wifes hand and I like the 18 round mags. How well is this pistol constructed and does it hold up?

I have the XD45. It's been a great pistol for me. Aside from having to install a higher rear sight (shipped free from SA), I haven't had a single issue with it.
It does get a little heavy with 13 rounds of .45 ACP in the magazine.
I've not shot the XDM, but folks who have say that it's superior to the standard XD in ergonomics and accuracy, not that either were bad in the XD.

I have a XD45 and an XD40. Bought both used. They have run without a bobble and are a great deal, in my opinion.

Tom

I have both a XD sub compact in 9MM and the full size XD in 9mm also.I carry the sub compact in a cross breed holster. Both shoot very well have not had the chance to shoot a XDm but it has to shoot really well to out shoot the reg xd's.For the money the reg XD is hard to beat.

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I now have 5 XD's. I have never had the first problem. Great guns. They feel better in my hand then any other on the market. The 45 does well in the SuperTuck holster.

I had 2 xd's a .45 and 40..traded the .45 for a 1911 model..wish I would have just bought the 1911 and kept the .45...I like the .40 and had no trouble with either pistol...

I've got the XDM .40 and mine's gone over 1500 rounds without a single problem, I've used cheap 250 round bulk ammo from Walmart and believe it or not I've had 2 jams. Here's mine:

I bought a XDM .40 when they first came out and I love it. No malfunctions and it fits my hand better than any other semi auto I've tried.
They are quality guns.

I would suggest having her heft one with a full mag. I think one would be heavy for my wife. She has a Beretta 380.

I also bought an XD 40 about 7 years ago and I love it. I also have not shot an XDM, as to me the XD is perfect. No need to shoot another XD.
Ever seen a old western where the quick draw can put a bullet where ever he needs to? Thats they way I am with the XD. I can draw, pull it up and shoot wih out using the sights and hit the area I am looking at. I love mine and it goes everywhere I do in the wood.
I have made a few 60-70 yard CALLED head shots on jack rabbits with mine. I love the gun and it sits next to my bed, 13 rounds of ammo and a tac light on it ready to roll.
