I recall reading in a recent article by Mike Venturino (American Handgunner I think), that for some reason he does not wear a belt or suspenders.

I assumed it was a health reason where he can't have tight fitting items or pressure on his skin.

Anyone have insight on this?

Really none of my business, but it stuck in my head and I have been pondering it for a while.. confused

I'm sure I've seen photos of him wearing suspenders, but I guess there could be more recent developments that would mean he no longer wears suspenders.

I just saw Mike on Sunday, and he looked pretty good, somewhat pale...but OK...

I guess there were some complications from a surgery he had a while ago, but I'm not qualified to answer exactly what all went on...so I will refrain.

I have the misfortune of visiting with Mike nearly every day. He does have some health concerns, but he is seeing a heart specialist about it. We traveled to the Helena gun show and talked about guns, shooting and his latest book on WWII guns. He has it nearly completed, just a bunch of shooting left to chronograph and test loads.

I am recovering from shoulder surgery, he will be unable to shoot for awhile after his next doctor's visit, so the shooting may be done by a cripple, me or him. This could make for a very unique book.

Thanks guys.

grin

Figured it was something like that.

Man! It seems like outdoors/gunwriters have more than their share of health issues..

Hope all you guys get better soon.

Let Mike know someone asked and tell him to keep up the good work !

Never met him, but one of the things I like about "V" is that he does a BUNCH of trading...and I am a camel-trader at heart.

Shrap, please pass along my well-wishes to him. One o' these days I am going to go see my sister in Pullman, WA, and will have swing by. Helena area may seem a long way to WA by your standards, but remember, I would be traveling from SC!

You're a good guy Schrapnel, just keep both of you on the mend!

It's not everyday you can learn gun-tagging tricks from someone.

I called Mike this morning and told him everyone was wishing him well. He said to thank everyone. I also told him that with the guys that posted here, his readership has now eclipsed the 30 mark, a record for sure...

I too wish him the best. Though my interests are different from Mr. Venturino's, over the years I found myself reading his articles "just cause." As a result, I know more about military rifles and black powder cartridge rifles than I should! Hope he writes for a long time.

Which begs the question that I was not going to ask until someone brought it up ( grin) : Shrapnel, what did you blow up now that you hurt your shoulder?

Feel free to "Howdy!" from me.

I couldn't tell you how many of his printed words I've read - suffice it to say, they'd fill the Shootin' Shack.
