I have a chance at a late 1960's Clot national match. very nice finish and all seem to be in good shape and no box or papers. i have several 1911's mostly ,military variations, and a stainless gold cup. Any thoughts on this model. Im looking at about $750 for this one.

That's a steal, if it's in good condition, all original, no idiot scratch, etc. Lots of dealers will ask $1300+ for them.

+2. If in as good shape as you said, that's a very good price. I remember drooling over them in the display case in the late 60's, but what's a poor teenaged kid to do ?!

I bought the gun. It turns out it is in fact all original. Except that the safety, slide stop. and mag release were gold plated at some point. it does match the gun since the wood grips have the gold rampant Colt. gun is super nice. i took a picture to send it to a friend and you could see the reflection of my fingers and camera in the slide. guess the guy didnt know what he had or neede the money. i cant see the gold plating dropping the value that much and if it does i could replace them. it shoots also.

8updeer hunter: I am happy for you and the purchase of that nifty pistol. I have always wanted a National Match Colt - just have never "had the money" when one came along at a reasonable price. You indeed got a great deal on this one. Again good for you. Handle it with care and concern and your investment should become more and more valuable in the future. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

It would be even cheaper to have those parts stripped and reblued. Rebluing can hurt the value, but I doubt it would much on such small parts, especially if it was done well and matched up good.
