Can anyone help me with the differences between a Browning 71 standard and the deluxe grades? Sling studs? Engraving? Checkering? Wood quality?
Thanks Vern

Grade 1"s are satin finished with no checkering. High grades are gloss finished with checkering, engraving, and gold inlays--2MG

Neither one has sling swivels. Grrrrrr.
Even so, I love my standard grade carbine.

I had sling swivel studs installed on mine for about $30. The rifle is much nicer to carry now.

Adding swivels to my 1886 carbine did make a difference. Still have yet to add them to the 1886 takedown, that gets heavy after a day.

The only thing I have changed on my 71 Carbine is added a Lyman 66WB reciever sight. Groups shrunk by half and is totally reversible. Nothing to take away from its original configuration. Go to sell it and I just re-install the plug screws and tap the old sight back on. Ryan
