This was my 2nd to last order; a gift for a friend's dad. She asked for one of my gift/display boxes to go with it.

Blade: Coyote Skinner design from Jantz in 440C (they call it the Dolphin blade).
Pins/Tube: Stainless

Handle is exhibition grade curly maple, also from Jantz. They did not disappoint when sending me an awesome set of scales. These were fine sanded, then dyed with a mixture of Fiebing's Pro Oil light brown and mahogany leather dyes. Then, 8 coats of Tru Oil later (buffing with ultra fine steel wool between coats), I was rewarded with this lovely finish. The curls absolutely JUMP off the knife under light and it looks like the wood is 3' deep. I love it, and I think both the buyer her dad will too.

The sheath is 8/9oz veg tanned leather, split point pouch design for better retention and to follow the design of the blade. Dyed the same color as I used on the handle. Hot wax finished with beeswax/paraffin/neats-foot oil. Polished with neutral shoe polish. The pics don't do the color justice...I really need to get a light box and better camera.

The gift box is also stained a matching shade of leather dye (it works for everything!). I wood burned my logo into the top (got a little squirrely with the lettering, but still looks good). Finished the whole thing with gloss urethane. Inside is lined with decorative
felt.

I agree, that curly maple turned out awesome. And that sheath looks like it's as stout as the knife! Nice job.

Thanks! I'm so glad I had the cajones to try the hot wax method for sheath finishing. It's a night and day difference between these and my previous works. I'm going to get them back and wax them as well.
