I applied for a Non-Resident General Big Game tag. Wow, was that expensive!!! This is my first year to apply for an out of state tag. Has anyone heard what the "rumor" is for what the draw success may be since the Guaranteeed Outfitter tags have been taken out?

Nope, haven't herard any rumors, but since lots of people won't come here because of the lack of gauranteed tags, and the new peice of said tags I would say chances are better than in previous years.

Some of the old "outfitter taggers" may have applied for the general drawing this year instead, but I still think your odds are better than they would have been last year.

I'm for betting that they won't go fast this year, but I've been wrong b4..

Greenbriar I think your odds are good, I put in for the Big game combo also, tags are getting pricey, wasn't to happy with there online convenience fee of $25 bucks! I think the general deer tag will be harder to draw than before as people just want to hunt somewhere out of state, it will be interesting to see how many BG combo tags will be left over.....good luck!

Good luck to all! We put in again as well, with a bonus point each due to not being drawn last year.

The Rancher where we hunt told me that Montana expected tag applications to be down %40 this year. I have no idea how he heard or found that out but thats what he told me.

We put in for our $600 deer tags. Damn near killed me to pay that much money for a deer tag but I did it.

Hey fellas.......

I talked to a few places like the hunting fool which my buddy belongs too, and to another outfit that deals with lots of idff states and draw odds.

Sounds to me that the MT non-resident draw success(i put in for elk, so that is what i was inquirying about), will be pretty high. They told me I will have about an 80% chance of drawing this yr with NO pref point. That is pretty dang high. They felt the number of tags in the pot to draw from compared to the reduced #'s applying upped the odds for us non-residents. I guess we shall see next month.

Good luck to everyone!

I think the convenience fee was uncalled for, I could see $5.00 not $25 ,will do the paper app next year..live and learn!!

I think the fee for the deer tag was $15 or $16. I refused to pay it and sent mine in by snail mail.

Greenbrier,

If I were you I would be getting ready to hunt MT this year. The big game combo license will be a 100% draw. And there will be tags left over for sale.
