Hit the river and creek mouth to see if the white bass were staging and about ready to start their spawning. Actually thought it might be a little early (a week or two) but to our surprise they were in the mouth. My buddy and I caught about 20 females in about an hour. All nice size 15 - 17 inches and around 1 to 1.5 lbs. Caught them around 6' of water near some stump rows. That's when the bonus came. We caught 4 bass with this one being the largest. (Notice the bait fisherman in the background) It's always more fun on the FLY!

Looks like a blast!! Using clousers?

Always a plus to outfish the bait guys with a fly.

Many moons ago my pard and I began fishing for brim in arkansas with fly tackle...a nice break from our bass fishing..
Then lo and behold we started noticing we caught as many bass incidentally while panfishing with fly tackle as we did when we intentionally fished for them.
You can guess what happened next. grin

Yes, TN River, Pickwick lake / Cyress Creek.
People don't believe me when I tell them the fish are so plentiful that 100 in a day is easy but it's true! It only lasts a couple of weeks but it's easy pickens when the bite is on. It's how a got my boys excited about flyfishing.

The fishing wasn't bad today but only caught small male stripe and a few small bass. Probably caught 30 to 40. The exciting part of the day was my 4yr old daughter caught her first fish (completely by herself). She ended up catching 4 total. Those weren't on a fly (it was on her Dora the Explorer rod) but the joy is just the same for her.
