My target shooting situation has recently changed. I built a backstop for my handguns that consists of...1st layer of vertical pine 2x4, 2nd layer of dense 3/4 sub floor plywood, 3rd layer of horizontal pine 2x4, 4th layer of vertical pine 2x4, 5th layer of 8" wet sand and final layer of 1 1/4 bullet resistant glass from a bank teller window. Does anyone have any doubts that this would stop any of the following...9mm, 38 spc,357 mag, 45 colt, 45 acp, 44 magnum, 500 s&w mag? I will be firing 44mag and 45acp most of the time. Would this also stop .223 ball? I built this like a box with 4x4's as support. Should I add something else behind it? Any suggestions appreciated. Maybe plate steel in the middle of my sand?
