I own several Ruger Circassion rifles. A coup[le No.1's and an Express .30-06.

I also own a 20-gauge Red Label.

This weekend at a gunshow in Des Moines I purchased a Ruger Woodside O/U 12-gauge with 28" bbl's.

I swear the walnut looks like Circassion Walnut. Am I mistaken, or is this what I have?

What do you think, and have you heard of any of the Woodsides being made in this configuration? Serial No. 430-011XX dates this shotgun to 2nd year production of 1996.

The Woodside is the top shotgun in the photos. Last picture is inside the forearm where there is a yellow "H" and red "X". Thanks.

If there is any proof of a man in a hunt it is not whether he killed a deer but how he hunted it.

I always thought that Circassian was the standard for the Woodside.

My "Blue Book" states "Premium checkered walnut" which I took as black walnut, but I have not seen enough Woodsides in my lifetime to gauge.

Looking for experience out there that have seen a few?

I am used to runs of rifles, or handguns from Lipsey's etc., where a finite number are manufactured and for some reason 35 are circassion etc.

Or is this the norm?

Thanks,

Mitch

Bill,

I appreciate your assistance. Looks like the answer was in my manual. I guess that is why they include them with the guns. wink

Thanks,

Mitch

In general, if you can see open pores in a stock, as in the barrel channel it is not going to be a European walnut...

I would be concerned about grain lay-out on that stock, even with a stock bolt.

Mark Begich, Joaquin Jackson, and Heller resistance... Three huge reasons to worry about the NRA.
