This is one of those questions I don't even like to think about. Buy high and sell low has been my creed forever. At gunshows, I know people are laughing but I can only sit there and take it. GD

Pretty easy to not get hurt, when talking amongst like minded folk. Of course that's assuming a case of Vaseline didn't accompany the build sheet. Much to be said, for not getting bent outta da gate.
Joe Average offa the Turnip Truck,is a poor barometer of fiscal evaluation, when it comes to Good Riggin'...............

Depends on how you are going to sell your custom. I tend to find friends who like my rifle and the way it shoots an easier sell than the "open" market.
With a friend, they can see for themselves the worth and your cost and make an informed decision that comes closer to the your actual cost minus the "used" part.
In the open market, I have generally priced a rifle to sell. Depending on the rifle, I find that a custom sells for between 1/2 to 2/3 of it's replacement cost if you want it to sell fast.
People want a deal on used stuff and if you are close to the custom builder's price, most people are willing to wait for shelling out top dollar and get exactly what they want.
My 2 cents....

Well I have only ever sold 1 custom rifle that I had built. I kept it for a little over 2 years and put about 4000 rounds through it and I doubled my money on it when it sold. I think that's the exception to the rule though. It had something to do with the smith that built it and the parts that were used. It was a right place/right time thing. (grin)
