When the stalk begins the chamber is hot. As much as I like to think that I have the expertise to account for every critter within view, it's amazing how often an unexpected trophy opportunity surfaces while I'm going from point A to point B.

I carry with an open bolt and a big yellow empty chamber indicator flags so the guys that look at me through their rifle scopes know that I'm safe. Now, that's funny!

On a serious note, I actually saw another hunter walking
throught the woods with his rifle in a case. Seemed pretty
odd to me, but who knows maybe he was hunting from a tree
house or blind.

Your either safe or your not. I carry loaded guns at work so I see no reason not to carry loaded guns in the woods.

Oh yea .223 Better yet, .223AI Best deer killing cartridge on the planet. Round chambered, safety off, finger on trigger, while looking through scope. Safety first you know. If something bad does happen, you can get some lawyer to sue the gun company. Of course they will be easy to find. They will be on your doorstep as soon as they get wind of the smell of money. That's why you should hunt with a rifle made by the largest gunmaker, deeper pockets to pick.

I hunt with the bolt in a little holster while wearing mirrored sunglasses. When there is something to shoot I send a boy back to the truck to get the rifle.
