I picked up a Marlin 36 serial numberstarts with a C so if I read right that means it was made in 1946. It looks like some one tried to reblue it 10 or 20 years ago the wood is in great shape and where the reblueing is coming off it has some great petina on but I'm at a lose of what to do haveit professionally striped and reblued? What do you guys suggest?

I would procede very carefully, since what appears to be a reblue to you, may be an original finish.

Model 36 production started late in 1935, with "c" (lower-case) prefixed serial numbers, AND a high-polish blued receiver top.

1946 production was also "C" prefixed.

Yours could just be a 1945 blue job, flaking - and worth a bit as-is to a collector.
