The Sako A7 ST is still listed as a current model. The original A7 is gone, and the Tecomate is just a limited production rifle in a couple chamberings, but it looks like the ST is slated to be sold this year.

Where is the information that the A7 ST will not be made and sold for 2011?

It seems SAKO has a hard time supplying rifles, they are fairly hard to find as far as local dealers. you must have to buy a [bleep] to become a dealer? I'm eyeing an A-7. What does the "ST" stand for. I tell you all these acronyms are killin this old fart!

It was discussed in a thread or two a while back. I don't think you'd notice a difference in a photo, IIRC, they look near identical in outward appearance with the exception the new one has a definite soft touch outer shell. Pics of the A7 ST have been on the Sako/Beretta USA website since last year.

I'm still curious to know from where the info came that Sako has discontinued production of all A7s. Hope not, but if so, I'll be taking advantage of the closeout deals.

Thanks for clearing that up Gary. I guess I was looking for an ST stock to be like the Finnlite, with the panels. It sounds like the A7's ST stock is more like a coating?

On the other topic, hopefully that's a rumor or some confusion between the new ST stock model and the original.

FWIW I asked Alex Roy of EuroOptics on the status of the A7 as he's got a couple. Alex indicated he hadn't heard a thing of their demise, and didn't think it was likely. Lee

The STs look just like the regular A7 just with a rubbery, grippy coating on the stock. We have one in 22-250 at work along with a few regular A7s. I really like the feel of the ST. If you have felt one of the browning rifles with the dura-touch, it feels alot like that just more "grippy"

The problem with Sako is the dealership contracts. Sako requires dealers to carry substantial inventory for display which makes it impossible for small dealers to sell. In addition, Sako won't usually deal directly with a small dealer for sporadic sales. Living where I do, it's a challenge to get an opportunity to handle a few different Sako models, other than a Tikka. I'd like to handle the Tecomate in 270wsm.

I did just that a few hours ago. Very nice.

One of the slickest bolts I've ever handled and a very good trigger. I liked the finish on the stock, too.

What could be a sadder way to end a life than to die having never hunted with great dogs, good friends and your family?
