I have 5 Sightron SIIs and think that the eye relief is comparable to the Leupolds that I've owned.
The only Sighton scopes that I haven't really liked are SI 3-9x32 rimfire scopes. To me, they have the same "like looking through a paper towel tube" thing going for them as does the Weaver V10.

Along with eye relief comes eye box. While I haven't fooled with any Sightrons, most hunting style Leupolds have lots of fore and aft leeway, i.e. eye box, designed into their scopes. Particularly at the lower magnifications. Can't recall any other modern makes that have as much as they do. Fortunately, this is easy to test if your retail outlet has a rifle stock setup with foam lined scope rings for such testing. Don't know about where you live, but my local Sportsman's Warehouse has such a test rig. Suggest you look for a dealer with something like this. E

I have had a Sightron SII and Big Sky. The eye relief was very critical in that your eye has to EXACTLY the right distance from the eye piece and EXACTLY centered each time or the image would blank out or not be a full view.

I think a lot of this can be very model specific within a particular line of scope. For instance many say the 40mm Conquest is a lot easier on the eye than 44mm. I have gone to great lengths to maximize sight pictures in my scopes. I can say that the 3-12x42 SII was damn near unusable for me. Worst eye box, most critical placement. Had to have head and magnification just right- especially in low light- maddening as hell. That does not mean that the 3-9 in that line was necessarily bad. Can't say one way or the other but know each one is different. Overall, gotta agree with E on this, if an easy view is what you are looking for I would go straight to Leupold. It is pretty much their best feature throughout their line up.

The two models I had were and SII 4x32 and an SII BIG SKY 3-9x42. The Big Sky had a large sight picture and was optically nice but the super critical eye relief turned me off of it quick.
