Gentlemen,

Wondering what some of you shoot for mid-weight bullets (250-270) in this caliber? I've thought anything from a 250 gr Swift A-Frame to a 260 grain NP to a 270 grain Barnes TSX might be a good single load for NA pursuits. No need to break the bank on velocity but, am more concerned with dependable accuracy. Rifle in question will be a M70 with a 24" Pac-Nor barrel and an Echols stock.

Thanks.

250 X and 260 Accu along with H4350 in my 375 Wby. The new 250 TTSX will get a lot of time with me soon as my present stash is gone.

Mark

How does the 250g fly in comparison to the 300g Sierra. I have loaded the 300g in my H&H with excellent accuracy. I was thinking of taking it deer hunting again this season, but wanting to try something other than the 270g TSX that I also have loaded.

Fly in terms is it flatter? It's (250 Sie) has shot very well for me and it rocks game pretty good! A bit of shock tissue at closer ranges but other than that it works well!

Yes. I have read many times that the 300 ovetakes the lighter bullets a ~300 yards. Where I mostly hunt deer a 300 yard shot is more likely than a 100 yarder.

Absolutely less recoil and more user friendly. And take a look at JBM to get an idea of drop.

Just looked @ JBM, used 2800 for the 250 and 2500 for the 300. You can redo this on your own easily if someone doesn't like those speeds.

I zero'd em both right @ 100 yds even to keep it as apples to apples as I can. Here's how they line up.

*300 yds the 300 has 3.2" more drop

*400 yds the 300 has 6.3" more drop

*500 yds the 300 has 10.3" more drop

mark,

what do you think of the 375 weatherby? any real advantage for what most of us want out of the 375 bore?

Yeppers with a good healthy dose of RL-15 I get 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 groups at 100 yards. I measure my groups outside to outside not center to center. This is alos shooting off my truck hood.

I think the "new" 250-gr TTSX will be veddy good to you for the 375 in the lower 48 (and most places elsewhere). With my experience with the 270 TSX in the H&H (moderate) it should rock for elk.

Darned shame that, shooting the truck hood off. I've heard of shooting through one, but shooting one clean off???? But, then again, it is the 375 we're talking about. whistle

Went with the 260 Accubond, over a modest charge of Reloader 15, for a muzzle velocity of 2620 fps from my .375 H&H Number One.

Easy shooting, very accurate. Sighted in at 200 yards, it has about 9" drop at 300 yards.

Took a nice size chocolate phase black bear here in Washington with it last September. One shot at 306 yards. One bear down and out. I think he moved about 10' after being hit. Bullet went right on through. Massive blood loss. Hearing that bullet smack the hide was great!

Only animal I've used my .375 on, and I'm impressed. Surprisingly easy to shoot - yes considerably less felt recoil than with the 300's - very good accuracy and excellent performance on game. I think I'll use it again...

Regards, Guy

I've been using the 260 Nosler Accubond over Reloader 15 with good results at the range and in the field. I'm running 2850 fps with the load I have and it shoots right about 3/4".

Last elk I took with this load was at around 300 yards, and the bullet performed exceptionaly.

I see Barnes has the 250 TTSX on their site. I bet this one will do well with a reported BC of +4 something or other it ought to fly pretty well for anyone seeking to get some range out of the round.
