Who likes it? I do and we have the first lettuce out of the garden tonight. Vinegar, sugar and bacon greese makes it awesome. Any different recipes out there?

Don't need any other recipe. Haven't even turned the dirt over in the garden yet up here.

Recipe sounds right from what I remember. Snow just left the garden. Planting in 6 to 8 weeks.

The recipe was right - I just got up from the table. My wife threw in some boiled eggs and some green onions we pulled yesterday, just for dessert. Good luck on the gardens

A few green onion and/or radish slices if you have them. Wifey puts the lettuce in a large bowl, pours over with the boiling vinegar, sugar, bacon grease, and a small amount of water sauce. She then covers with an upside down plate that will fit inside the bowl for a while.

Any different recipes out there? Nope. Grandma, Mom and now my brother and I make it that way, but I have to admit, I like some thin sliced red onion thrown in there. Mike

That's the same way my Grandma used to make Wilted Lettuce 50+ years ago when I was a little girl. She taught me how to make it. Still love it.

We had it at least a week but we did add in chopped green scallions or spring onions. The dish was a staple along side pintos, fried potatoes and cornbread. In a good week we'd also have cubed steak.

I've never heard of sugar or vinegar in it. Just lettuce, green onions and bacon grease...

In my wife's recipe, I forgot to mention the bacon pieces are added. Lettuce, green onion. radish, and bacon.

I still love wilted lettuce. (Really just got tired of seeing that baby steak ribs thing every time I checked in. )
