Sounds like you'll make time to reload soon. I believe it was 4227 that I was interested in trying next. Lil Gun was ok but not stupendous. Depending on the job at hand those big 50 cal barnes X flying ashtrays look super and should perform same way.

Let us know how it goes. I need to float my 16 inch uppper soon and think that might help a bit.

Yes Sir,
Have the various powders onhand and 1000 of Rainier 335gr FP arrived this morning. Gave the Postal Lady a herina, according to her. Hope to use 400gr for serious work and walk-about. Pulled the loading data from Alexander Arms web site. Things seem to be ontrack. Will post any progress made and would appreciate advice/commentary regarding same.
We really like the Barnes X bullets in other rifle calibers but just don't see the need for a large hollow point when the bullet is already .50cal and trying to smack a Moose or Grizz. At that time/circumstance, am more interested in max penetration. Can appreciate (perhaps) the use of a large cavity if one is hunting whitetails. Must admit, have experienced excellent penetration using other X bullets of 350 and 400gr weight. Comments anyone?
Best Wishes

Yes totally agree on bears and moose needing a stout bullet. Was thinking the Barnes X would work super for bou and black bear and the like.

I'd think from a 325 to 400 stout soft point would be the ticket for the big stuff.
