To make a long story short, while in Florida I lost my wallet and a guy found it and called my work on our 800 number stating he found it but wouldn't leave his name or number. My work gave him a couple phone numbers for him to call to reach me but he never tried. I thought maybe he would mail my stuff back to me (minus a few bucks, of course) but he did not.

Well...............I did a little detective work and found his phone number since it's recorded due to him calling our 800 number and subsequently found his name and city. And that is where I hit a road block. Can't find anything more. Anyone know a way to get more info on the guy? I also have a phone call into the local police dept. where I filled the lost property report and waiting for a call back.

you might try doing a people search......if you have his name and city you can possibly get his phone number if it isn't unlisted.

If you can't get any help elsewhere, I have a private investigator that I keep on retainer that does that sort of thing for a living. I'd be happy to pass along his contact info for you.

Just got off the phone with the police dept. and they called the number I have for the guy and left him a message, maybe that will spark his interest.

Maybe a friendly call to say perhaps he misplaced your phone number, and you wanted to remind him that he still has your wallet, and that you would like him to return it. You could also mention that in the process of finding his phone number, you learned a few more things about him.
