I have an old Savage 219 with Weaver G-4 scope wearing a Litschert Scope Booster. This was an add on device to increase magnification to 8x. Can anyone give me any info, or share any experiences with them? I love the looks of it on this rifle, but cant get scope to hold zero. Are these worth anything?

Farmall- I think Litschert began making these replacement objective "boosters" in the mid-1930s, continuing through the late 1940s. They were available for many lower-powered scopes. I've got a Lyman Alaskan with a Litschert booster, and it works well.
Remote diagnosis of a zero-holding problem is difficult. Does the zero wander during the shooting of a group? Between groups? Or is the problem movement of zero between shooting sessions? Have you tried the scope on another rifle, or another scope on the 219?
The Litschert attachment should not affect the ability of the scope to hold zero. It might do this if the attachment is very loosely threaded onto the body of the scope, or if there is some sloppiness associated with the focusing/parallax adjustment on the attachment. If it is the latter problem, you might select one distance and tighten it down snugly and then refrain from further use of the focusing feature. --Bob

Thanks, Bob. I have an ancient 3x9 Japaneese Tasco on it and it shoots very well. I dont have enough elevation due to some gun butchers "scope mounting job" with the side mount for the old Weaver. Any attempt to adjust the Weaver results in groups that look like a shotgun pattern. Think I'll look for another old Weaver to try. Thanks, Andy.
