i'm not sure this is the right forum but here goes... the old bear broad heads had a chisel point on the tip. something to do with cutting through ribs and not sticking. i was thinking of doing the same thing to my bore spear for the same reason . any thoughts?

How many wild boar do you have in Alberta that you spear them?

Any kind of spear is going to go through ribs, chisel or spear point. Boar ribs are about the same size as your own. It doesn't take much to break human ribs. Flinch

JJ: actually they do have boar hunts on game farms in alberta if you're into that kind of hunt. a fellow i know just took one a while back. flinch- i tend to agree with you re chisel/point. i didn't get this to hunt with really. just got it cuz it was kind of neat and i use a staff when i'm hiking in the foothills & low rockies. i've got a bum knee so i need the support, so i figured i might as well have a staff with a purpose, especially with all the bear & cougars around where i hike. if nothing else i can jab the person i'm with so i can out run them. i also figure it'll get a few stares the granola crowd. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> thanks for the replies.
