I just got my rings lapped and my scope installed on my new CZ 527M1 American and I have a problem. I torqued the cross bolt (the part which attaches the bottom half of the ring to the receiver) at 50 in/lb. and I just found a piece of paper in the CZ box which recommends 65 in/lb. for the cross bolt. Can I merely tighten to 65 in/lb or do I need to loosen the top part of the rings or remove the scope before doing so. I was figuring the scope/rings shouldn't move any more, it should just tighten the grip on the whole thing. I am thinking in the right way? I didn't want to damage my scope.

You might consider trying it for awhile to see if there is any movement. Most scopes are mounted without a torque wrench, and many torque wrenches are not properly calibrated. Few use anti-seize compound, so not many mounting jobs are ever truly in spec. Still, most work just fine.

I can't fathom anything in a 527 that'd shoot 50 in/lb rings loose.
Call it good, and rock on.

Sansarc and VAnimrod,
I'll shoot it and keep an eye on it. I thought I might be worrying about nothing.

That's a good bit of torque. I don't think your going to have a problem on a small caliber rifle.
