yeah, it was an XLT with the racetrack trim but I knew I was going to have the truck muddy more often than not so I deleted the trim, welded all the holes shut and did that pinstripe around the "dent" bodyline down the length of the truck.

I'm gonna tell ya, that truck was a total POS when I started with it, it should have been crushed. But it was my first truck ever and when I told my friends I was going to fix it up.... They laughed at me..

Well, that sealed it, I had no choice. grin

Why would you want to fix up Pam's, Dad's old truck? Wierd. grin

Congrats on the house Ryan. Put up some pictures for us when you get a chance. I'm really glad it's working out for you!

Well, it was a bigger POS that what I orginally thought, but it will be hunting truck nice. Not a show piece by anymeans, but a nice truck. You know how that goes when you go look at something you really, really want. I was impatient, but the price was good. $800. The drive train was worth a good chunk of that. The carb and intake is worth probably 1/2 that.

My plan is to drive it for a year or two then sell it. Use the cash to but a slightly better truck of the same body style.

I do want to take this 78 to chicken buck. I think a truck like that belongs there.

The hood I put on it this weekend is a copper/brownish. It's growing on me a bit. The body man almost has me talked out of putting the trim back on it since it will be a hunting truck. Seems my friend Dave told me the same thing, so there may be some truth to that. smile

yeah just don't toss that trim out though, it might be saving for your next project or it might be worth something to another guy restoring one that has a couple bent or missing pieces.

Yeah & tailgates. Where the heck does a person find a straight tailgate for them old Fords?

I happen to know someone who has one that's been hangin in a shed since 1977 with ~80 miles on it. Hasn't been touched in 34 years. Must be worth scrap price at least?

These old Ford trucks are the bestest of them all.

ya, ya, ya, everybody's uncle bob or cousin leroy has a tailgate that came off the truck when it was new because they put a camper in the truck and the gate is still up in the garage rafters to this day, blah, blah, on and on... I've heard that one before, usually at the bar though. You drinkin already white bear?

I'd just drop a tree on it and wreck it anyways.

Better sell it to Pam instead, she needs one.

Work is highly overrated. That is why I'm not doing it today. Sure would be nice day to clean up the winter mess in the yard if....well....if it wasn't still winter!

I'll be saving the trim. I have a full set of racetrack trim for a short box, I'll probably throw that on craigslist. I got a good deal on it and shined it up nice.
