If you're talking about Al Biesen of Spokane, WA a quick google search should tell you all you need to know. Very highly regarded by most.

Has anyone ever heard of a gunsmith named Al Beeson? Reputation? Beeson? Yeah, that guy is Al Biesen's second cousin. Specializes in using a Dremel tool and vise grips. Glad you got it figured out. As others said, and you know, the real Al Biesen is top notch stuff.

well, I have never personally handled a Biesen but I have drooled on my keyboard while looking over their site. I really like some of the butt plates they make... the trap doors with the widow's peak are very neat and provide a great platform for some engraving... we can all dream right!

I saw a movie where only the military and the police had guns. It was called Schindler's List.

http://www.stevebarnettfineguns.com/asp-bin/Detail.asp?ID=6053Really odd to me to put so much into a savage action, and ask $2500. I would think with all the hours of work evident starting with a more loved action would make selling it much easier.....

Actually they are in their "right" mind. The area of the brain that determines hand/eye dominance is located on the opposite side of the head from whence said dominance is. That doesn't mean lefties get to have it their way though!

hemiallen, that is the gun that I was talking about... Steve Barnett list all of his guns high... he either has customers that don't care or he knows he is going to take a good hit to the price. I agree that its not worth $2500. And you certainly do not see many really nice wood and blued customs built on savage actions but my understanding is its not from having a lack of function as much as a lack of form... many find the barrel nut ugly but from the little I know, the Savage 110s were mostly great accurate shooters. I think THIS gun has a nice balance of form and function and I do like the fact that is a little different than every Remington 700 out there. It just does not quite make me want to rip out my pocket book or have me tossing and turning all night ...

It's worth every cent of $2500, discounted already for the lefty and Savage. Al's name on this makes this a pretty good buy, actually, despite the limited market.

Hey, if anyone thinks that $2500 is stiff, they oughtta take a peek at a $6500 Empire Model 99 Carbine custon rifle, based on late Savage 99's, and available in .260, .338F, .358W, besides all the usual suspects.
.
It ain't no fun, when the rabbit's got the gun

Al Biesen built some of the famous Jack O Connor custom model 70's.
Sometimes you see his stuff on Gunbroker and they're like works of art.
