Someone asked this question once and I wasn't sure if it was answered and a Google site search turned up 0 hits.

I believe IDDAVE gave Barnes a call and they said .490 for the 145gr LRX in a .284

By contrast Berger's 140 grainer is .510 on the G1

I'm eager to see reports on the 7mm 145gr and .308 175gr LRX.

I'm working on a few other calibers right now and have a lot of .308 bullets waiting in the wings. My next call to Midway will probably be a box of 175's and 200's.

I wonder if they made them softer or different cavity so they would expand more reliably at lower velocity since it's marketed as a long range bullet?

I don't think they would mess with the metal maybe a larger cavity. Definitely something worth trying in ballistic gel at distance.

Any pictures to compare their profile to a 165 or 180gr TTSX?

I had a follow up exchange with Barnes about the LRX 145. The following was how that went down for those of you that are curious...

I asked,..."One more question if you'll allow me....Is there any difference in the "internal" construction of this bullet?

What I mean is that while I understand the ogive has been moved as compared to the TTSX to allow for a higher B.C. (to be determined), but is there anything else that makes it a "long range" bullet? Specifically, is there something in the manufacturing process that allows it to open at longer ranges (and by association lower speeds) than a standard TTSX?

Thanks for all your time and consideration.

Dave"

He responded with,...

"Dave,

They do have a longer nose profile, as well as, a longer boat tail. The internal design of the cavity, is slightly different to make them expand at lower velocities.

Thanks, Josh"

p.s. They still haven't landed on an official B.C. for the 145 either. Says they will have it pinned down when they start shipping at the end of the month.

So far the only thing I've been able to gather on these new bullets is that the 200 gr LRX is simply the TTSX with a new label. There's no change to it other than marketing hype. I wouldn't mind trying the 175 gr LRX though.

Got a box of 175gr LRX on the way. I'll test them in the Bullet Test Tube with the 168gr and 180gr TTSX and see if their's any significant difference.
