Water temp has to hit 60F.

May be a while.

I am pretty sure we have not hit that yet in southern Michigan.

Yeah, thinking I'll be a bit early but it is what it is at this point. Gotta get some warmer weather quickly!!

Are you saying 60 for them to kick into spawn mode?

Dober,

The Crappies were biting big time on Spirit Lake on the Iowa/Minnesota line on Saturday but that was the first time this year. If we had warm weather all week (which we won't) I would think they would be starting. I would plan on 2 weeks to be safe but it all depends where in the Paul Bunyan your heading.

No, it's not early. Slabs are going on 'tonka and lots of lakes around the cities. I'm going out tomorrow.

60 is bass spawning temp. Craps and 'eyes are long done by then...

Slammed the slabs on 'tonka yesterday. When the sun was out, it was every cast. grin Seemed to be the first day they really moved SHALLOW. But, water temp was only 49. They'll be spawning by the end of next week.

I have a little buddy that did a trip to Lake Fork Texas this spring. He spent a few evenings at my home visiting with me about his first trip down there. I gave him my advice and a couple of my maps.

About 9:00PM on Mon eve, we had a knock at our door. My buddy had a huge baggie of crappie filets that he had just caught. We ate 1/2 of them on Tues. He said that more will be coming. Life is good.
