I've run across an ad on another site for a Sako Finnbear 25.06 with an older Redfield scope for $1,000. It's a deluxe model with an engraved floorplate, but is a Garcia import. The gun looks to be in very good shape with nice figure in the wood. I've wanted to acquire an older Sako for some time, but think the price is a little high. Any idea on what would be a good price, if not a steal, for the rifle?

Compared to what it costs today for a new rifle and scope, $1,000 for a Sako doesn't sound bad at all. I wouldn't get rid of mine for less than that.

Ended up getting this rifle for $800 shipped sans scope, but with the rings. Don't have it in my hands yet, but I'm really looking forward to putting some rounds through it. This should scratch that Sako itch I've had for years, or maybe not.

If that rifle is in nice condition, you stole it, IMHO.

I picked the Sako up last night. Has a couple of rub marks on the grip and barrel, but otherwise is in excellent condition. Just looks and feels like a very well made rifle. I haven't shot it yet, but starting to see why these older Sakos are so well regarded.

Sako Finnbear in 25-06!? Oh, you're going to like that rifle a lot I'm thinking. What glass you planning on putting on top? Loads?

Two year old Blue Book, 30th Edition, shows the Finnbear Sporter at $1,050 at 100%, $975 at 95%. Letting the seller keep his vintage Redfield for the $200 difference was IMHO the way to go. You got a solid deal with some equity built in.
I once had one in 30-06. Very accurate, just a tad heavy and for that reason I traded it. Solid gun of really great quality.

I was actually able to get the rifle for $800 shipped, so while not a steal, I feel like I did ok. The seller was honest in the description and it was a painless transaction.
I'm considering taking either a Leupold VX-III or a Kahles KX off their current riles to put on this one. I don't reload, which I know puts me in the distinct minority on this site, so I'll shoot some of my late father's reloads and pick up some factory ammo this weekend.
