Shot a friend's XD the other day and really liked the trigger on it. Seemed like a good shooting gun, but I don't trust plastic.
So tell me, how do they hold up? How many rounds do you have through yours? What have you had to replace? Is it a 100,000 round gun?

A buddy of mine is a Grand Master in production class (IPSC) and he has over 60,000 rounds through his XD 9mm with no issues. I have right at 5000 through my XD45 with no problems.

I know what you mean about "not trusting plastic." I used to have the same misgivings. My fears have proven groundless. Polymer (plastic) framed handguns are plenty tough. I seriously doubt you could wear one out on a lifetime. The XD is a fine pistol. My XD40 has several thousand rounds through it with no issues.

Is it a 100,000 round gun? Very, very damned few things are. In fact, anything with 100k rounds through it will likely have few, if any, original parts left.

Just wondering if the frame will hold up.
I consider barrels, springs & sears, etc to be routine maintenance stuff.
Steel rails can be peened.

The slide doesn't ride on polymer, but on steel frame rails. Steel on steel.

They'll hold up fine, as the poster above stated there is a steel insert inside the polymer frame that the actual slide rides on. They're very durable, I've got over 3500 rounds through my XDM .40 and have only had 2 jams, the gun still looks practically brand new.
