I think the Campfire needs to start a formal review of gun / outdoor articles and books.

Just pick one out from any magazine, book or site. List the title and author and drop some starssay 1-5.

What ya think?

Would be nice if we could put them in a separate forum or some other sortable/searchable format. The only problem would be how to keep reasonable track of everything. For example, I would like to only look at one post for all the reviews of the same article/book vs. sorting through several review of the same article/book with a different subject.

As an idea I like it but something tells me that each thread would get woefully cluttered with Boddington Bashing, Barsness Bowing, Howell Harrumphing, Mann Mangling, Jamison Jabbing, Cooper Carping, and maybe even some Dickens Dishing or Kipling Kwibbling (or Macrabbit Mashing).

I give multiple stars to two books that I've read by Jim Fergus. Both, The Hunters Road and The Sporting Road were great reads for me. The main theme is a fellow's wife lets him take extended road trips with a couple of fine shotguns, his laboratory retriever and the camper he lives out of.

Lots of wry humor and good insight into the birds he hunts and the people he meets along the way.

I would vote in favor of a separate spot on the campfire for book/magazine reviews.

Latest Handloader magazine - "Ruger Mark III" - no stars, just a few ??? "Handloader?" A .22 rimfire? I'm easily confused.
