Using hearing protection while target shooting is a no-brainer; however, I'm curious as to how many adults here require children to wear hearing protection while hunting. Thoughts?

I don't require it, but my son insists upon it. He uses the electronic muffs from Midway so he can still hear but the gunshots are muffled.

I got the electronic muffs for my boy, he likes them and they do an excellent job of cutting out loud noises.

Same time I got myself the hearing aid look-a-like electronic ear buds and they suck, wind is a major problem, they are uncomfortable and do a poor job of silencing the noise. They were both the inexpensive ones, Approx. $25 for the muffs and $35 for the buds.

My dad never required us to wear them hunting but insisted we wear them target shooting. This past season was my little sister's first hunting season. She insisted on having hearing protection though. Dad bought her some ear plugs that had the hard plastic like these:
