Do it like we do down South...
1 head cabbage, rough chopped 1/2 cup carrots, peeled and chopped 1/2 cup chives, chopped 1/2 cup vidalia onions, chopped 1/2 cup bell peppers, chopped 1/4 cup sugar 1 tablespoon black pepper 1 tablespoon garlic powder 2 tablespoon seasoning salt ( Lowery's recommended) 1 tablespoon white vinegar 1 1/2 cups mayonnaise ( Blue Plate recommended)
Directions
Mix all the ingredients together. If it is bitter, add more sugar and let stand in the fridge for at least 1 hour but its better the longer it sits.

Here's mine. I like the "wang" that the horseradish gives it.
Mike
10 cups chopped shredded red and green cabbage. 1/4 cup grated carrot 2 cups miracle whip 1/2 cup sugar 2 T prepared horseradish (I actually use a little more in mine) 1 T dry mustard 1 T white pepper 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 1/4 tsp. celery seeds
Toss the cabbage and carrot in a bowl.
Mix salad dressing, sugar, horseradish, dry mustard, white pepper, salt, garlic power and celery seeds in a bowl. Add to the cabbage mixture and mix well. Chill covered, until serving time.
Know fat, know flavor. No fat, no flavor.
I tried going vegan, but then realized it was a big missed steak.

It's one of those things that is different for everyone that makes it, but yeah, never seen one like that. I happen to like it lots of ways, depending on what I'm eating it with. I happen to like sweet slaw with fried chicken, or chicken fingers. The rest of the time, I like a more vinegar based slaw. Then there's what we locally call "John's Slaw". It's named for the restaurant that serves it this way. This may not be completely unique, but it's pretty good. http://www.johnsfamous.com/

Wifey makes very good sweet slaw similar to these posted with a small amount of sugar. She uses 1/2 real Mayo and 1/2 Mircle Whip. Her secret ingrediant if some garlic powder.
There are a lot of Fried Chicken restaurants in our area. All serve a German Slaw. Here is her simple German Slaw recipe.
Empty a sack of cole slaw mix in a large bowl. Sprinkle with garlic powder and lots of black pepper. Stir in a good Italian salad dressing to the right texture. It must refridgerate at least over night. Good luck.

If you follow through the old thread, you will see that I took Bowhunr to task for dragging Willie through the salad and he very accurately pointed out that you have to stir the mix with something. Good to see that someone is thinking "organically".

Live a little and try it it out. The one that opened near me, closed pretty quickly. I'm pretty sure I ate there once, but it may have been when it was an Ezells, or maybe at both. I don't recall for sure. I don't recall anything remarkable about the place. Typical fried catfish joint.
