Hi, new to the site. My gunsmith called today and I am having him rebarrel a 7mm STW an old laredo Winchester. I bought a 1-9 twist hart and told him to chamber it to shoot 180 or 168 bergers. Here is the problem he called today and he had reamed the chamber but not the throat and there is no way I will be able to fit the bergers in my magazine. Since I don't want to go single piping all the time while hunting, looking for ideas... Sierra game kings? or has anyone shot match kings on animals? How about hornadys ? Told him I would get back to him on what direction I wanted him to go, thought I would ask here first. I do not want too much free bore, but would like to shoot a decent BC bullet.

thanks

My 7STW shoots 160gr Accubonds and 154gr Hornady Interbonds really well. Both are long bullets with decent BC.

The SST Hornady and the Nosler Accubond should give you what you want . Plus don't overlook the Swift Scirocco 150 gr

I shot the 160 ABs in my 7STW before switching to the 150g TTSX. The AB is a good bullet, grouped well and knocked down animals pretty quick. I had no complaints. I was running them right around 3250fps.

I tried and tried to get the SS2's to shoot. They just never have shot well for me in my STW. Neither did the Interbonds. I would shoot the 154g Interlocks before any of the other Horny offerings.

My son took this bull around 200 yards with his LH Wby Accumark in 7mm STW and the Nosler 140 gr Accubond. The Elk dropped in his tracks and never moved.

I have been told by reliable sources that the 162gr Amax has no peers among .284" bullets.

The BC is astounding.

I have several boxes heading my way right now and am expecting good things.

Of course mine will be in a 280AI at ~3000fps.

I will be interested how your rifle shoot these bullet. My 280 AI has a 1&9 twist barrel. I have some 160 Nosler Accubond I'm going to try with 3100 and the Nosler 280 AI Pre formed brass

Mine is 1 in 9 twist and I'm using the Nosler 280AI brass too.

I'm expecting really good results based on how it shot the 162 Hornady BTHP with absolutely zero load development.

Is the A-max a good hunting bullet?

Rman would you be willing to shoot a moose with an A-Max?

Building this gun in hopes of going on a moose hunt this fall or next, in the process of looking for a reasonable outfit to go with if anyone has any suggestions.

In no way would the A-Max be considered a suitable bullet for Moose. Deer, maybe...but only if I could hit one BEHIND the shoulder. The Accubond would be an infinitely better choice.
