The sad thing is that the first 11 of this class of ship (the Lewis and Clark class) has been named after famous explorers and scientists up until the last two. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewis_and_Clark_class_dry_cargo_ship#ShipsNow we have the Chavez and the Evans both named after civil rights characters.
