OK, I have a delemma. I am headed to Namibia in June. This will be my second trip. Trophies from the first trip were kudu, red hartebeest, duiker, gemsbok, springbok, blesbok, and jackel. Zebra and Impala are at the top of the list for this trip. Not sure what else I should take? 1). black wildebeest 2). blue wildebeest 3). warthog 4). steinbok. What say you? rj

If it were my hunt, I would target the following (in no particular order): Hartmann's Zebra Eland Blue Wildebeest YMMV

Impala in Namibia? Are you hunting red face or black face Impala?

Hartman's zebra - one of the great hunts in SW Africa; eland - walk him down; another kudu - I'll be hunting my third in June; and that blue wildebeest - he makes as interesting a rug as a zebra.

Why do you have to narrow it down? Save your money and take two of everything!!

I would never NOT want to hunt another kudu. In addition to that, I would look for blue wildebeest and and a good warthog.

Let Africa provide. You have the two you want, see what you come accross that tickles your fancy. Just my two cents worth and it is your hunt.
Enjoy yourself. Randy

REJ: Either species of Zebra always make for an interesting hunt...good stuff. Do another kudu, and a warthog. Impala are more of a collection than a hunt, as are the wildebeests...but they can make striking trophies.Your choice...it all depends on conditions...Ingwewife had some real hunting to get her Blue and Black wildebeests...mine came almost too easy.... Me personally...I could hunt Gemsbok non-stop...easily my fave...

A Hartmanns for sure and maybe a common zebra too. A steinbok (Namibia produces good ones). Impala can be tricky to hunt in Namibia........I reckon they are one of their best game animals........especially if you are after a good one. Blue wildebeest are great fun to hunt and make terrific rugs too. I shot a great black wildie on my last trip as well. And don't take jackals off the menu, your PH will want them shot on sight. And the odd baboon is always welcome!!! LOL. Eland if you have the time............... It's ALL good!!

Funny how experiences vary. We hunted hard for most of three days to get my blue wildebeest -- and it was probably on the same property, with the same PH, as Ingwe's! By comparison we just walked up on a pair of gemsbok sparring in the thornbush, rested the rifle against the side of a tree, and *bang*.

I'd have to agree.
I have found taking a top quality impala ram one of the toughest things in Africa. Those little suckers love dense cover.......

Yep! As I said..Ingwewife logged some miles for her wildebeest..both of them...me...not so much. And Ive always had stoopid good luck with Kudu- time-wise anyway.... Ingwewife had a beotch of a time on Blesbuck...mine was like your Gemsbok....peek around a bush...."bang" Zebra seem to always offer up a hunt, and if you really like that kind of thing, Eland will provide some walking and stalking....

Ingwewife had a beotch of a time on Blesbuck...mine was like your Gemsbok....peek around a bush...."bang" Kudu was the second most time-consuming for me, and the blesbok was moderately challenging, too, because they kept getting in among zebra and when we finally caught one alone it was a longish shot from a tricky position. I think our hunts just about balance the scales!
