I have an opportunity to get a used ZRS HD binoculars from my friend for a very good price. It was bought in 2009. I am wondering whether there is a big difference between the current ZRS HD model vs the older circa 2009 model? thanks

The new one is best by a fair margarin. It is much more compact. It is brighter ans sharper as well.

For anyone with the new HD glass model....does it indicate HD on the box or on the binoc itself? I had an oportunity to buy the ZRS and there was no mention of HD on the box, or the binoc, so I passed.
Thanks

No, there is no indication on either the box or the bninocular. The HD glass is in an eye piece lens and used as a field flattener.

Thanks Steve,

So if there is no indicator on the box or the binic itself, how do I know if I'm buying the "new" style vs the older ones?

Thanks

On the box, there is a little green sticker on the back, where it lists the specs. Next to the sticker, it says 8x42 or 10x42 HD

This months Outdoor Life's Optics reviews were not favorable to these. I had heard good things about them.

I decided to get the new ZRS HD binoculars. So far I am very impressed by its optics. The other option I have is Bushnell Legend HD. Comparing these two, optically, they are very close. I do like the build and finish better with ZRS.
