Give these guys a call: Kens Sporting Goods I hope you don't plan on driving out there, gas prices in that town are unreal. MtnHtr

I pack two 5gal fuel containers when I'm over that way. Awhile back the local bank moved shop and there was no bank in that town, locals were pissed! Ken's is the best place to learn about the area and be sure to look inside the freezers out front on the sidewalk, there are always some recent lunkers on display! MtnHtr

It's been quite awhile since I've fished those eastern Sierra waters. From what I recall though it wasn't particularly technical. Standard flies like Elk hair Caddis, Adams, Royal Wulff, Hare's ears, pheasant tails, wooly buggers, etc. should work fine if you put them in front of fish. Good idea to call ahead though and see if there's some local hot flies.
You could also try calling Bob Marriots in Los Angeles. The eastern Sierra is a popular destination for soCal anglers. There's also a good shop in Truckee (names escapes right now) that could be a good resource too.

Where do you plan to fish? Lots of options up there. I've spent a lot of summer vacation time in that valley. This time of year on the creeks and rivers I would strongly consider terrestrials. One year there were black and yellow caterpillars everywhere and the trout were tearing them up. The higher elevation lakes can be a blast in a pontoon. Take a fast sink line and use a streamer with a dropper and hold on. I've had some really fun days that way.
+1 on Marriots....they can hook you up

Just got back and fished the West Walker two evenings. Caught 2 nice trout Tuesday evening and lost 4 more on hoppers. Landed 20 plus Wed night and lost track of how many got off.
Starting about 6 Pm they turned on and hit a small green dry fly.
