Ok guys. Got a gonic 93 on the way. Don't know a thing about it other than the specs. Model 93, stainless, laminate stock. Looking for twist info. What bullets to try? Approximate value in 95% shape? Anybody have one? Good rifle? I know the company is out of business. Couldn't pass it up for the price-$80.00 Any help would be great. thanks dcl

It sounds like you scored a Deluxe, @ only $80 - but projectiles are problematic.

AFAIK, Gonics have deliberately undersize bores for their caliber, your .50 measuring exactly .500", thereby needing either undersized sabots for .429" JSP's or the heavily-loaded 550-600 lead bullets the gun was designed around/for.

dcl,

Rangr44 is correct. the bores of the Gonic rifles are undersized. However, there is an outfit called No Excuses Bullet Manufacturing, LLC. located in Roy Utah that makes outstanding bullets for your rifle. They have a web-site that you can order from, but you may want to talk to him before you do, because he will custom size them for your Gonic. Anyway, the Gonic is an terrific rifle. I think you will be well pleased.

Man Guys. Thanks for getting back to me on this. I picked the rifle up tonite. It looks brand new. Only issue is it is set up for #11 caps. thanks for the website with the bullets. Can't wait to shoot this thing. It came with 20 conicals. Measured them at .495. Weighed 435 grains. Might see about having a gunsmith switch it to 209 ignition. Thanks again for the help.dcl

You may want to think twice about trying to convert it over to 209 ignition. Those rifles have a very short distance from the nipple to the powder charge. I have never seen one fail to fire with a #11 cap. They are able to do this because the breech is fixed. Unless I miss my guess that rifle will shoot its best with around 90 grains of ffg black powder or Pyrodex RS. Put one of the No Excuses 460 grain bullets on top of that charge and you will really have a nice hunting rig.

K Harris,
Thanks for the tip on No Excuses bullets, good info to have. I was shocked when checking his site to find he ships your order before you send your money.

Glad to help out. I remembered another source for Gonic sized projectiles. There is a fellow in Iowa that sells on auction arms by the name of blkpwdrsls. You should be able to type in Gonic on the web-site and bring up his bullets. He has both 480 grain and 440 grain that are sized for the Gonic rifles. He sells them in 200 count lots. The starting price is $59 with free shipping. I have done business with him in the past and been very satisfied.
