What always bites my azz is when the republicans get total control they never change chit. Oh, they might let something expire, but change it, no way. Nor do they ever gut or eliminate federal agencies, they use the non-constitutional powers to regulate to their own end. They say all the right things when they are not in control, but when they are they forget about what they said.
Politicians livelihoods depend upon government's ever increasing size, this is true for republicans as well as democrats. A politician voting to decrease the size of government would be akin to a Ford autoworker voting to close half of Ford's manufacturing plants or doctors voting to close hospitals, it's not going to happen. Politics has become a profession instead of the citizen legislator as it was set out in the constitution. This is why the only thing that will reign in the size of government is term limits. Professional politicians will always increase the size of government, it's too lucrative for them to vote to cut it.
anyone that has seen whats gone on already with the gunrunner and the Mexico 90% lies BS and cant' realize that Obama is after them a different way, by strike of the pen via interpretation of current existing rules just can't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
And anyone that voted for the idiot is getting what they deserve, its just a damn shame I have to be drug down with them.
More gun control is comign and it will be as best it can be, under the radar.
Wont' even surprise me if its entwined with race wars that may well be coming as 2 particular ethicities are milking this country dry.
One has to only look back to Nazi Germany and see how it could all happen.
As a society we are daily getting more restrictive. And thats the precursor to communism. Once they have a majority depending on them they can move to the next level and we are past that point already in the balance of things IMHO. Next step is take away the tools to take the country back, and thats not only guns, but guns are part of that formula and then we wake up one morning communist.

I share most of those same thoughts/feelings. My point is that whatever his personal feelings on the issue might be, Obama has been as I predicted: a non-factor in terms of any real gun control BS in his first term.
As I've said before, in my opinion the danger lies in a second term, should that come to pass.
It's my hope that the R's will put forth a true fiscal conservative, minus the social-issue BS, and we can just skip right over what might have been if Obama did get a second term.
The problem with all of this is that, as Sean and virtually everyone else has said, the R's are coming after our rights just as fast as the D's.
When I'm trying to explain why I'm becoming very anti-government to my liberal friends there are several tacks that get traction. The one I'll mention here is the ratchet analogy. A ratchet only moves in one direction. Every new law, every infringed right, is a click of the ratchet that we never get back. Therefore, on the face of it it's correct to oppose most if not all new laws or infringements of rights.
But Jeff my friend, if you are truly worried about America continuing the slide towards fascism (corporatism and militarism and government combined), then you should be just as horned up about the R's as the D's. If not MORE so.
Not much will happen until after the next election........if the Muslim gets re-elected, & right now the odds favor him, then the she-it will hit the fan.
All pretenses of anything but all out socialism will be dropped & they will become very aggressive in a lot of areas in taking all our (remaining) rights away.
But 'cept, what I said there was true. I mean that's the thing. I'm not trying to be abrasive, it's just the truth that he hasn't done much of anything on the gun front, and won't unless he gets re-elected, and then he might.
