I continue to have rusting issues with the steel follower springs on Rem 700s, does anyone make or sell these in SS or is Ceracoating the best fix? Thanks for any help. Dick

I've never seen them in stainless.

If you heat them up so they are hot to the touch with a hairdryer, then blast it with BreakFree CLP, then allow to cool, then wipe down lightly--I've never had one rust after that treatment.

+1

Or wipe the follower spring down with Corrosion X and place it in the hot summer sun or a heat lamp. Then after it cools wipe it down with Corrosion X again. Johnson's paste wax works well too.

Dyna-Tek Gun Shield from Midway or Brownell's is a good fix. Wipe on 3 coats 20 mins. apart and reinstall the next day. Problem solved.

Cerakote is the best bar none. Other than that, slap on a thick coat of wax and leave it on.

Stainless won't hold enough temper for a spring. I have seen them plated but can't rember where.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I spoke with Eddie the other day and he'll cerakote a bunch of mine when I get them to him next week. Have a great Holiday!
