Wyoming is requiring a Vet check within 72 hrs of entering the state with horses because of this. Look's like all show's around here are being cancelled for now.

You'd have to be a nut case to take expensive horses to a show until this blows over. There seems to be no shortage of nut cases, however.

Events can be rescheduled. If everyone kept their horses home to prevent it's spread, this outbreak could well blow over in only a few weeks. In Nampa, ID they always have a big parade called Parade America. It always includes Miss Rodeo Idaho. I read yesterday that she's leaving her horse home this year and riding in a stagecoach. What the article didn't mention is what's pulling the coach. A tractor hopefully?

edited to add: I just read that the Reno rodeo starting June 16 will be held as planned. They're banking on the virus to have run it's course by then. Well, maybe. That's almost a month away but it only takes 1 horse from a place where the bug is still active.

I was told that the Canadian border is closed. It's affecting folks I know trying to get back home with horses from down in America.

Not to worry. It only affects horses and llamas. It won't hurt their saddle moose. grin

I read this morning that wildlife advocates are concerned that infected domestic horses might come in close contact with wild horses. That could cause serious problems with the wild horse herds. This outbreak might have a silver lining yet. Western ranges are seriously over populated with wild horses. They could use some thinning out but the greenies fight tooth and nail to prevent it.

Been locked down for over a week now. I don't show but was hoping to get out and really ride over Memorial Day. All I can say is keep your ponies away from those nasty, disease carrying cutting horses! That was a joke, hope this clears up soon.
