I have had several of these over the last 10 years, lost all but two, the lever lock opening mechanism fails after a year or so. Can anyone reccomend a more durable knife with a similar system. No spring assisted opening, please. I don't like the blade springing open ahead of my thumb. I figure it would be a matter of time before I cut myself all to Hell with one of those!!

Kershaw makes the Saber Tooth, which is a variation of a lever lock, but the lever only partially opens the blade. It's also a little smaller than your Camillus. There are better ways of manually opening a knife that are more durable than a lever system. Personally, I like blades with flippers. One of my favorites is the CRKT Desert Cruiser Special Forces: The S&W HRT is also a safe, fast opener:

Here comes a defibulator question. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Have you tried the lever operated Moore Maker knife? Forgot the name, but it's supposed to be handy for ropers and such. 222

Sorry, guys. I kinda spaced off this post. how far does the blade open with the lever on the Saber Tooth? Where does one find the Moor Maker knife? I'd like to see them both.

I think the lever on the Kershaw opens the blade about 2/3 of the way by itself. In combination with a flick of the wrist, it should open fully in one motion. I saw them in a store a couple of years ago but didn't handle it. I'm left-handed and these types of knives don't work for me. The Moore Maker suggestion is a good one: MooreMaker Roper's knife
